The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland has announced it’s doubling of the Energy Research, Development and Demonstration (RD&D) fund for this year.
The funds available for research have increased to €2 million for 2017, a massive doubling of the funding available last year. The funding, which is available to Irish researchers in the industry and academia, aims to support sustainable energy research.
The SEAI has said that it will prioritise areas including energy efficiency, citizen engagement and energy storage. The research will aim to provide new market solutions with a view to overcoming various barriers in the move to a secure, clean energy future.
A welcome move from Energy Action’s Gerry McGough who said; “Energy Action in partnership with Wexford Local Development is delighted to be involved in an SEAI sponsored research project. We will deploy energy monitors and provide detailed energy saving advice to 100 homes in Dublin and Wexford in order to test the hypothesis that behavioural energy advice can result in energy savings for households.”
