Meet Our Directors

David McCarthy

David is Executive Vice-President, Deputy Chief Financial Officer at Great-West Lifeco Inc. He previously was the Financial Director of Irish Life Group and before that Financial Director of Irish Life Permanent. He also worked with Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) in Ireland and the UK. A business school graduate of Trinity College Dublin he is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Tom Rowley

Tom has been a director of Energy Action since 2003. He is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and qualified as a solicitor in 1998. Tom is the managing partner of Rowley Law Solicitors in Rathfarnham village and has extensive experience in the area of commercial conveyancing and family law.

Kevin O’Rourke

Kevin O’Rourke is an independent specialist in sustainable energy policies, technologies and practices, with over 40 years experience in the fields of energy efficiency, renewable energy and environmental protection, mainly in the built environment, nationally and internationally. For 14 years, he was a senior manager in SEAI, leading a number of key national programmes, including implementation of the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive. He previously worked in the Irish Energy Centre, the European Commission, Eolas – the Irish Science & Technology Agency, the Institute for Industrial Research & Standards, Taylor Woodrow Research Laboratories UK and UCD School of Architecture. He is a former member of the Building Regulations Advisory Body, Chair of the Energy – Environment Division of Engineers Ireland, and is currently Chair of the Irish Green Building Council.

Carol Pemberton

Carol was Executive Director – Corporate Resources for Irish Life managing the HR and Facilities functions across the group until her retirement at the end of 2013. In her 37 year career in Irish life she undertook a variety of roles in the areas of HR, Customer Service and Information Technology. She has a masters degree in Organisational Behaviour from Trinity College. Carol was a member of the Board of Directors of Age Action Ireland from 2007 to 2011 taking on the role of co-chair from 2009 to 2011.

Barry Walsh

Barry is an accountant and an employee of Irish Life since 1984. He has been Company Secretary at Irish Life Group Limited and Irish Life Assurance plc since 2012. He has held senior executive positions in Irish Life and was General Manager of Group Tax and Investor Relations. Barry was an Inspector of taxes in the Revenue Commissioners. He serves as Chairman of Irish Life Staff Pension Scheme and is a Director of Bord na Mona plc.

Marion Jammet

Marion is Business Development Manager at the Irish Green Building Council. Her working background is in project management, stakeholder engagement and policy development, with previous roles in Dublin Chamber, Eurochambres – the European Association of Chambers of Commerce, and the European Parliament. Marion holds a MA in European Affairs from Sciences-Po Strasbourg and a MSc in environmental sustainability from UCD.

Brian McSharry

Brian was appointed CEO of Energy Action in January 2017. He has worked previously with the Department of Energy in a number of roles including energy efficiency, all-island energy market and strategic management. He holds a Bachelors degree in Political Science and a Masters in Policy Studies from Trinity College and was a voluntary member of the Board of Directors of Energy Action from 1995-2007.
