Fuel Poverty Conference 2013

Energy Action European Fuel Poverty Conference 2013 Energy Action has successfully run National Fuel Poverty Conferences in Dublin Castle in 2011 and 2012. Resulting from the success of these conferences, and mindful of the fact that Ireland will host the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from January to June 2013, were asked to consider running a European Fuel Poverty Conference in Dublin in 2013. Plans for this prestigious conference are now finalised, and the conference will take place on 11th–12th March 2013. We have a wonderful line up of distinguished presenters from Ireland, Northern Ireland, UK, from a number of European countries including, Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, and from USA, Canada and New Zealand. Pat Rabbitte, Minister for Communications, Energy & Natural Resources, and Nelson McCausland MLA, Minister for Social Development, Northern Ireland Assembly will jointly launch the conference and give the opening address. This conference is the first of its kind. In keeping with Ireland’s Presidency of the EU, the conference brings together fuel poverty researchers, policymakers, and practitioners from all over Europe, in order to seek areas of common ground and shared understanding. The event will build areas of consensus, raise the profile of fuel poverty, and seek ways of embedding energy poverty within the broader rubric of EU legislation and remedial action. The Conference will facilitate dialogue between policy makers, regulators, local authorities, island communities, politicians, health experts, researchers, private contractors, energy companies and the various agencies supporting vulnerable people in Ireland and Europe. Energy Action will also provide exhibition space at the conference venue, and welcomes exhibitor bookings.
