Manager Louth Energy
Eugene runs his own consultancy providing Human Resources and staff developmental services to Irish business with a particular focus on solutions for Manager development. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
With thirty years’ experience in community work focused on building community competence and capacity, Eugene was one of the founding members of the Dunleer Community Development Board (DCDB), a community-based organisation in County Louth and one of the actions of this community group was the establishment of a Sustainable Energy Community (SEC).
Under the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland’s (SEAI) community retrofit programme, Eugene has led the successful retrofitting of 230 homes across County Louth. The team also developed a programme of education “The Energy Ambassadors” and has delivered to audiences across six counties involving 500 participants, this programme inspires and educates home owners on how to reduce energy, use more renewable energy, save money and make their homes more comfortable.
The Energy Ambassadors programme was shortlisted for the National Age friendly recognition & achievement awards 2018. Eugene has been nominated for the Roger Léron Award 2019 which celebrates outstanding contributions to the development of sustainable energy at an EU, local and regional level.
